funny I was thinking how he was doing today as well when I was painting a diffuse for this character that was very painterly. hope the bugger is doing ok :)
update, put some basic textures on, normal and diffuse. not sure about the colors i have though. please give feedback. ideas and suggestions are welcome.
try putting your lightmap on the colorgain input of your color texture instead of using on the diffuse or ambient. This will really multiply your lightmap into your colorgain.
Well, I rebuilded lowpoly and removed these intersecting pieces. And here is diffuse tryout. I know it's looks like crap, but I hope it will be better. Someday.

I love the subtleness of hellboys diffuse, and PLEASE finish that mech pilot chick. speaking of chicks, what happened to that elf chick from a while ago :)
