How are you importing the mesh into xnormal? Are you importing the "cage" that you created directly into the lowpoly slot? You'll need to load the regular lowpoly into the lowpoly slot, and then I beleive there is a special tab in the lowpoly mesh options to load a corresponding cage mesh. "External cage file" - load it in…
That is a hard no. Wtf Make sure your lowpoly matches your highpoly shapes, be aware what normalmaps can and can not handle and use a cage or proper ray distances for baking. No need to fuck up your highpoly for baking.
Hey there ! Thank you very much ! Yes, I saw that at the end, I have a tendency to still being lowpoly on my props even when it's close but you're right, I should have put more polys ^^
great looking high poly!! here is a guitar I did. your lowpoly count is way to high still. Let the normal map carry a lot of that detail. lowpoly Wire Lowpoly Textured
Hello! Currently I'm working on a model of the T-34-85 tank. Recently I've finished highpoly and lowpoly models in 3ds Max, also added details on the highpoly model in zBrush and projected AO and Normals Map. Highpoly: Lowpoly: Lowpoly(AO+NormalsMap):
You can simply bake a new normalmap from the highpoly model to the new lowpoly model, or, you can apply the existing normalmap to the original lowpoly, and bake that to the new lowpoly. Both should work.
