We're using forward rendering on our current UE4 project, it's supposed to be better for VR performance. The roughness decision we based simply on the shader-complexity view in UE4, and also by tracking FPS in-game.
In the most recent TB2 update, they've included the GGX BRDF, which is closer to UE4 and CE3.6. Also, TB2 can use the metalness workflow(like UE4) and the spec workflow(like CE3.6). You also just need to make sure your maps are imported into UE4 as linear/sRGB. I believe TB2 automatically sets the maps that need to be in…
Ya I noticed that some of the default materials that come with UE4 have some that are just a combination of diffuse and normal texture for the entire materiel, that kind of threw me off thinking it was okay to still use diffuse in UE4. So they must of some good programming behind these diffuse textures that look like…
Here's a quick test I did using a single smoothing group synced workflow between SP and UE4 Bartalon is correct, the smoothing artifacts will be visible on your normal map but this doesn't matter in a synced workflow as both SP and UE4 are calculating the tangents/bi-normals in an identical manner(mikkt) NM is 16bit…
Vray uses a different GGX shading model to UE4. If you mean getting your Vray scene into UE4 and have it 1:1. If you're just talking about bringing a scene set up for offline rendering into a real-time environment like UE4 then it completely depends on what you're doing. This image is very exciting though. Maybe quite a…

Ok, Thanks. Say you want to match a composite a video of say filmed with camera of fov 60 in ue4, what fov would you have to render a 360 image to match the fov of the ue4 camera?
