don't laugh, I'm aware it's awful but it's the closest I've managed to what I am trying to achieve (two connected cylinders with a hard edge between them) and here is what it looks subdivided
Can anyone help me ?! I've been trying to figure out how to put a hole in a curved geo, just find it really hard to do when applying turbosmooth or subdiv it. T_T
I'm having a hard time getting this curved piece to look like my reference photo. I've worked on this one spot for about 3 hours, I've added support edges, creases and everything I can think of but I cant maintain my smooth curve
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to remove this pinch without adding any more loops how do i keep the round shape and create that net effect of the cut below?
Im modeling an Oshkosh Matv, having a hard time with the rear cargo edging. The area just above the MA6 stamp with the holes. I can use either modo or 3ds. Sorry for the low res
You think? Mmmmm... Maybe I'm just making it too hard for myself. I will give it another try and show you guys the result. Thx for your fast reply SpeCter, much appreciated.
Need some help with modeling this shape. spent the hole night and still did not get it to look good :P http://www.chenessinc.com/brasstsuka.htm (the twisted rope things they hard... they give me a head ache!)
Hi guys I want to ask is there any modeling books or videos that learn me how to draw complex segments and topology and how to model hard or complex curvature in s mesh? regards samy
"Avoiding unnecessary complexity will make the modeling process a lot easier and can help prevent surface flow issues and visible smoothing artifacts." Indeed! For me, a very hard lesson too learn among others.
I'm pretty sure this is a matter of just setting smoothing groups on the base mesh, using a smooth that respects the smoothing groups to highly tesselate the mesh to the point where it generates the support edges for all the hard edges, and then dropping one last smooth on top to round all the edges. I do this with a…
