Hey polycountfever here is a tut i put together. mosetly using the spacing tool to place object and merging a few shapes. vimeo link to video http://vimeo.com/27958651
^ Hey no problem, all good and yeah there's a fairly noticeable offset between the two, so one option is to try aligning the 'rail spline' along the top tube of the mesh object?
you are holding yourself back by trying to model it all from one piece. once you treat the shield and the metal frame as 2 objects it should be much much easier
I may be overthinking this one, but whats the best way to model padded objects such as the image above? Especially a very soft quilted walls and such. can it be modeled or leave the details in the texturing?
For the first shape, use something called Connect which is found in the compound objects in max.You adjust the in-between segments and something called tension, but you gotta clean some triangles after.
Thank you guys for the help. Here is a little update of object with the advice you guys gave me. Any C&C is welcome. I want to try and practice more :sunglasses:
Hi all! I'm new in this forum and in subD's. I'm a max user so if I use some "max terms"... sorry. I've read all the posts in this thread and learned alot, from the examples and advices. But I still have some doubts... You mention that sometimes when you need to add more detail to a certain area but don't want to mess out…
Hello there. I'm using cinema 4D for modeling and I'm kinda new to hard surface modeling. I have some pinching problems. I basically tried to model panels on my cylindrical object, but I'm not happy with my topology :/, I also don't have even edge distribution because of this detail and I don't want to add another loops…
im pretty new to modeling and am just wondering about the best way to make a rounded inner corner on a object. i tried just using a subsurf modifier on the whole object and use loop cuts to better control the shape but this knocked the poly-count above what i would like since this model is for use in a the source game…
