Uploaded with ImageShack.us landscape from ma mind. I also have tons of sketchbook pages that ive filled with studies that I have yet to scan. I just seriously have to train my eye because I really can't draw or paint from reference for shit atm
Here's the latest. Finally managed to get that shit i was griping about earlier working. Landscape mode in unreal... soo buggy and annoying. Still needs some work. Not the biggest fan of the ground textures, or the super quick steps, or the lack of any small rocks on the path. Still wip. Enjoy!
Thanks for adding your input! Remember those 3 shots were totally just for composition, but I also agree with the feel of the colors. Any thoughts as to content, or what makes something "fantasy" ? Castles? Landscape? I am also a huge fan of using lighting to help communicate composition.
The problem with this one is that it's a very tight (low FOV) and a vertical shot so it's very very hard to get the right composition with a landscape-type shot. I don't know Unity but maybe there are ways to flip your monitor to get a vertical shot? I know you can do it in UDK.
I've seen some pretty nice landscapes created in WorldMachine and exported as meshes. The normal map is easy to generate, as well the diffuse. But, using the default color nodes in WM doesn't give good results like these: Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this properly? Thanks for any tips and tricks!
Hey guys, I have to do a big landscape scene in maya with many different buildings and objects. I read that max has an option to handle many highpoly objects as one "instance". Is this possible in maya too ?` Maybe in combination with meshlab ? // - i dont mean grouping or combine objects ;) Greetz, Alpha
They seem to get less exposure than the character guys, and i realized I cant name very many so id like some more exposure. Feng is the one thats pretty well known, but he does mainly sci-fi architectural stuff. Would love to see some landscape stuff.

Hey all, I'm going to try out the hard surface environment. I was already working in Substance Designer, so I started with the Snow material. Mud coming soon. I plan on using this in a landscape blend material with a muddy water as well. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/dwRXK
I think the Dr.Wilys Castle is the weakest one, can see obvious stretching textures in the landscape and the lighting setup ain't up to par with for example your Sonic-environment (which is awesome). You should really try to touch it up a bit more. Good work so far!
