Really awesome stuff guys. I'm seeing a bunch of characters/weapons but where is the environment art? It's such a beautiful world, I'd really like to see some scenery if any of your enviro people have things to show.
my friend ( Ivan Nestorov) and I teamed up and did this over the weekend started yesterday (18 jan) at 2pm spend to much time on modelling and not enough on texturing etc was fun doing an enviroment with such a short deadline
I like you're 2d, but the 3d is lacking... Not that i'm one to be telling others what to do, as my work is far surpassed by yours. I agree with most everything here. That ps2 spec enviroment is nice, though.
VIG is right about UE3 resizing enviro textures above 1024, it's best to just texture at 2048, resize to 1024 with bicubic sharper and then run an unsharp mask on it to beef the sharpness so that you counteract some of the compression.
:poly124: it sucks, you might as well just give it too me and let me put it in my portfolio. j/k man its rocking keep it going. Thanks for the enviro help. Working on that now at home.
I dont know, if were talking 90 work days then thats 18 weeks. If its an art lead, an enviro artist, a character artist, an animator, 2 good programmers and a senior game designer then it "could" be done.
Today I added the phone/tower unit texture, and some more newspapers on the floor. The enviro is now on the verge of completion, any crits? P.s. thanks Coots, didn't have time to fix those today but will crack on with it tomorrow :)
Here are some ingame shots of the Axe, ingame i think the red is a little too saturated and i need to go back and look at the enviroment map after looking closer at the weapon. It all looks a little too shiny.
I agree with them ^, you need a strong light source. and about the spike, they aren't just brake up the red, but they'll make your enviroment look like a place to "fight" ( so was the bronze badge ), not a boring temple.
Oh man, theese threads blow out of proportion so fast. Cant wait for what you make of this project :D Im really envious of your texturework. Its soo good! This thread is like candy to me!
