I stay in vertex mode 90% of times and kind of like it. If you select 2 vertices you've got edge selected, and if you add two more it's face selection and you can perform both vertex & face operations on selection :) Using wacom tablet and it's lot easier to make 2-3 additional taps then pressing ctrl+tab every 5 seconds… -

For Vista+CS3 (cant tell about sp1): You need Aero to be enabled for CS3 to run smooth. Stupid, but true. So if you try to increase CS3 performance by removing most of the unwanted Vista stuff, it wont work... I hear ya, I don't think they are expecting the VR aspect to be the primary sculpting method. In the webinar, Greg Brown was pulling out the form in VR and then hopped on over to the desktop with a wacom to do the rest. Not that this is an ideal workflow, but it shows the range in usage. You might consider using something like Radial Menu (Wacom also has its own radial menu, but I hate it personally) to build maya-like radial menus in non-maya applications.
