I had the same issue, but coming from 2015 to 2012. The brute force fix was to attach the object to a sphere, delete history, save scene, and open that one. Seemed to be working. -

Thanks for the suggestion Oglu. I had a go at installing the files but it seems the version I have is only compatible with Mudbox 2015+ and I'm on Mudbox 2014. Any other suggestions? -
