Necromanceк is baddass but i personally prefer the moster could be less baggy and have more distinct limb muscle. And if your human is slender and have forms tend to length(skirt, hands, hat, skull beard), then the monster could be wide and flat like a кay fish foe example.
To me, this just feels out of place. What would the point of a polycount-hosted 2d character contest be, when there are forums like conceptart.org with a very active community? Would it be so you're 'a big fish in a small pond', rather than competing with people who are great at concept art?
Today I've made some WIP props and more signs, simple and quick stuff. The rest have been just dressing the level. No models or textures are really "finished" yet. It's just to dress the scene and I'll update things as I go. Oh yeah and the fish will be used in market stands and stuff. haha xD
Arkadius - I love the mesh, but IMHO, the glowing 'attractor bulb' thingy doesn't seem appropriate and really breaks what is otherwise an awesome set of shapes. At the end of the day, Hammerhead here is huge and muscular; much more like an apex-predator, than an ambush-predator like the fish above.
Oo I love galway and have family there! One of the best places to drink and eat fish n chips the day after. Probably also the place i met the most americans ever :D Nice to see that the island is given some love after many of the big players left.
You have a great style going on here! How is this scene coming along? Maybe you could add some debris and junk in the water, or ropes and fishing nets hanging over some of the buildings. Flags and other elements that would be affected by the wind on the ocean would be a nice addition perhaps.
The main reason she looks fish-lipped is the transition from the lower lips corners to the rest of the face. It's a common mistake to think that the change in colour from the lips to the face is also a hard edge. It's actually much softer...take a close look at the bottom right head in the pic that danpants posted.
I had this idea to make the large eye shaped parts of my creature be semi transparent like a Spook Fish, but I was wondering how I would go about getting this effect in a game res PBR pipeline. Would it be best to sculpt what the inside of the shape would look like and keep the outside 'casing' of it as a separate piece…
Yes ^ to my knowledge, the requirements are just there to hold you from applying if you think you don't have what it takes, if you think like that, you probably don't. Maybe you can fish some freelance work while you're looking for full time work, that way you'll get some experience
This is actually quite cool, I like the design, I'm wondering though, his skin a little balloon-like to me, is it supposed to be a wet material sort of fish-like? Might want to have a bit of a sharper spec hit if you do want it to be a little more wet skin - but yeah Keep goin :) its looking awesome
