I'm just guessing here, but to me it looks like there's a river between the foreground and background in the concept. This is a pretty good tutorial for grass: http://www.crydev.net/viewtopic.php?f=315&t=100319 But it could be applied to other foliage as well. Oh and check out the wiki:…
Yeah the Digital Tutors stuff I've always found pretty basic. The 3ds Max bibles are ok, id consider them more for reference than tutorial though. Paul Neale is doing some Masterclasses over at CGTalk: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=59&t=1115204
I still haven't found a way around it :/ I just offset one, then quickly go down my layers hitting CTRL+F on each one. It repeats your last filter. I remember finding a script for it once somewhere but it quickly stopped working for whatever reason.
I just made this tutorial for someone who asked me a few questions about Spacedraw. If you struggle using a tool, even after checking the manual (Menu "F" on the left), just ask here and I'll make a tuto when I have some free time.
I whipped up some simplistic flower petals for use in a visualizer I was prototyping: I'd like to make more of these sometime. http://foxbyart.tumblr.com/post/158983965032/testing-out-some-tweaks-i-made-to-my-plum-blossom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-XGgs0jHl8
I'm pretty sure Maya's cleanup doesnt particularly clean up anything, it just selects the screwed up areas. From there you can hit F to zoom in on them, although sometimes if you have 2 it will just zoom in to show your whole model which is retarded.
Font Studio. It's originally made to export fonts to Ogre, but it offers a really simple API for writing exporters to any format. We're using it at work and I wrote the dll to export to our own format and it works wonderful! http://www.ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=47802
This comment fixed the launcher issue for me. https://www.cryengine.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=125&t=133563&sid=c63f0dd8c11d54d5e7d07f14c05298d2&start=75 "Finally got this fixed, if you still have the issue go to Users/yourusername/AppData/Local and delete the CryEngine Launcher folder, it launches fine after that "
Funny this made me look up my "first" WIP thread. In the posts and title I didn't mention that it was my first. Maybe because it wasn't technically my first character model, but first serious effort. *warning, noodz* http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=43&t=582121
