@Eric Chadwick There's also How u model dem shapes (Image Ripped). There's some really nice stuff in here as well. Even full projects (tanks, guns, etc!) http://polycount.com/discussion/157205/how-u-model-dem-shapes-image-ripped
I'm a professional draftsman/3d modeler, but I put hobbyist because I work for an architect, not a game dev studio. One of these days I am going to transition into more creative work, either technical illustration or game dev, motion graphics, or ad work.
[ QUOTE ] The scaling is terrible, as you will never be able to find epic weps or anything hidden about by the devs [/ QUOTE ] That sounds like a cop out to me on the dev's part. In Morrowinds they hand placed plenty of stuff for us to find/loot/steal.
Thanks! I do want to add more stylized pieces that don't have the issues of the older works. Also all the stylized pieces are interpretations vs the realistic ones where I tried to be as accurate as possible, and my professional work has been in realism as well, so it makes sense how my career in the industry is shaping…
Really sorry to hear that guys. As Cheez said, Bungie his hiring like mad. I've noticed that publishers are more likely to close a dev studio than a dev studio closing on its own. There are greater benefits and dangers to being owned by a publisher, sad stuff indeed.
well the main problem is maya only supports opengl while max supports direct3d, software and opengl acceleration. the developers of max suported both game dev and vfx industries while developers of maya havent been paying that much attention to game dev until recently.
I def. attribute the concept to feng Zhu no doubt! I posted and apparently when i edited my post i deleted the last line when i pasted my image url in. I def don't want to deny credit where credit is due.
I just thought I would ask around and see if any fellow polycounters are attending the Indie Dev day on Thursday the 24th of November in Liverpool! http://liverpool.develop-conference.com/indie-dev-day/ I have never been to a develop conference before! so I am pretty pumped! Anyone attending ? : D
Oh yeah, I'd suggest giving Dear Esther a try. It's no fair comparing Paper Menagerie to Call of Duty or the like, I could flip the tables and compare Dear Esther to 50 Shades of Grey or Twilight and declare that video games are a superior medium.
Uh, to clarify guys. Ubisoft Montreal are the main devs, it's their baby. Us at Ubisoft Toronto are supporting them in development, as well as Red Storm. Same idea like with Assassin's Creed that's spread across different Ubi studios, but with Montreal being the main dev.
