i would associate the PBR word with AAA studios which produce first person shooters, you know industry oily greasy shiny metal things with chipped paint, thats sort of how I've sterotyped that word.
Really cool stuff there plus I'm of the same sentiment, you seriously have to consider leveraging existing art showcase platforms that'll potentially attract AAA class eyeballs you've of a mind targeting for the next career move.
Congrats :) Great feeling, isn't it? Good thing about shorter projects (shorter compared to those AAA titles that take 3-4 years to make) is the instant gratification you get from completing projects on a regular basis.
ps3 = cheap blu-ray player that also plays games, worst system to develop for which is why there are so few quality games. 360 = big library of AAA games, online service is quick and easy to find friends.
I'm not a big fan of your websites layout so I will leave this here: https://www.polygon-academy.com/why-your-portfolio-needs-to-be-on-artstation/ At what kind of studios are you aiming right now, small ones or AAA?
There is a LOT of Last of the Mohicans in this. I'm hoping to hear a bit of spoken coastal Algonquin in a AAA game title. Eagle From The Shadows, here, is just oozing native lineage from that era. If I'm right you guys will love this.
Seriously, how does that original pass? Not to insult the original artist, but it's actually amazing that something like this would make it into a AAA game, imo. On a side note, awesome work man! The China Lake is my favourite so far :)
I only bought Just Cause 2. I either already have the others or I wasn't interested in more AAA titles. I like my indie games :) (yes I know JC2 is not indie :p )
It can be brutal. Hard hours, stressful deadlines, cooperate greed, no job security in a lot of the AAA companies. But... I have never seen or heard of an industry filled with such passion. Most people in this industry love what they do and it shows.
Kite Demo is fantastic and artistically amazing. It definitely is a huge step forward for real-time rendering. I agree that the game industry, or at least the game industry outside of AAA, has moved past realism and is more stylistically diverse.
