@musashidan we have 2 handheld scanners from this company at work, although not the same model. Each of them cost 20000 Euros + you need a beast laptop with excessive amounts of RAM so you end up spending 25k for a single setup. Maybe this newer version costs a bit less, who knows.
Great comparison Bek! Yeah 25k seems fine to me nowadays, especially if it worth. However, I think you could have use a lot wider bevels ;) But in the meanwhile, what you are saying about their size is true. Could you share wires please, so people could see how it works and looks topologically on this.
Here is a character i just finished, hes called stoick and hes from how to train your dragon. I still have work to do on him, he needs weapons, an environment and a dragon to face :) hopefully ill have it done by the end of the week. 778tris in total, 256 diffuse and spec map. More updates shortly :)
Depends of your object : it's an important object ? Does it need several different diffuse ? Show it, you can't decide what to do without determining what is the purpose of the object (quest object or just a decoration ?). In your case, I guess the best optimized case would be the 256 UV overlapped + the lightmap like your…
"(so no I did not save the smoothed version of the model)" Always save your work. Looks like some versions have grip on the front. Not sure if you were going to add that as well. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/deadliestfiction/images/4/4f/Iwi_tavor_tar21.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width/250?cb=20130411001955
they have a monthly fee that allows you to send mails etc, and the price you pay depends on the amount of customers you have including the free sales, I think I'm paying 200$ a month right now, and I think the highest amount you have to pay is 250$ after that they don't charge you more.
It's a rough guideline for you, not necessarily how you charge the client (though it could be). You estimate how many hours it is going to take you and use that to quote the client a price. For example, if I think a project will take me 10 hours and I expect a $25/hour rate, I would quote $250 as my price.
You should keep an eye on the refurbished WiiU bundles on Nintendo's Store. From my experience (and many other people can also agree) you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a Nintendo refurbished unit and a factory sealed unit but you'd be able to pick up the console, a controller, the necessary cables, and a…
i usually use a tiling bark texture that is 256*512 size or so (tall rectangle like ryno said), since you'll notice the horizontal tiling a lot less than the vertical, and keep my leaves/alphas on a separate sheet since the materials will be split anyway, so no point in keeping the bark and leaves on the same sheet =) .
Looking good for the limited resources you've got to work with. The guy on the left hand side looks like he's lacking something... perhaps a bit more dpeth, a few darker patches and what not in the blood on his chest or something. I know working with the 256 colour textures is a bitch. What does Mundus Vult Decipi mean?
