The reason for losing motivation is because the idea wasnt well flushed out. If you would have thought about it more you would have realised that the idea is meh. Its just not that interesting. I think thats more to do with the dev than the graphical quality don't you? Mass Effect 2 was stunning and lasted 30-40 odd hours. Uncharted 2, in the same genre, lasted twice as long as Underworld, but had roughly the same dev time.

I'm a professional draftsman/3d modeler, but I put hobbyist because I work for an architect, not a game dev studio. One of these days I am going to transition into more creative work, either technical illustration or game dev, motion graphics, or ad work.

Really sorry to hear that guys. As Cheez said, Bungie his hiring like mad. I've noticed that publishers are more likely to close a dev studio than a dev studio closing on its own. There are greater benefits and dangers to being owned by a publisher, sad stuff indeed.
