Everyone will want to hop on to the thing that made a game so great, but just hopping on to it will not make it great. Takes skilled game-designers to actually implement something, but it did solve a bunch of issues that gamers very often during the big olden pc era solved with quicksave/quickload. -

Those are all good tips. But, Rescale Elements will not solve the stretching in this case, it will only scale whole elements so their pixels are the same size. Which is a good thing anyhow! This is mostly a case of just trying to UV large chunks, without using enough seams to solve the distortions. -

Revel, I had that problem too. I solved it by creating a new unique UV and set that UV to lightmap channel, that solved the problem. You can use UV that overlaps for mesh but you should second UV map for lightmap which should not overlap in any case. -

Depends a bit on what you plan to do with the window, will there be steam coming out of the cup etc. (might get a bit much as you'd have three regions of interest). Perhaps throw a light in there to get a better sense of the final scene. Nothing that needs changing right now, but the overlap of the crank with the edge and… -

Thanks Mark, that solves most things! The other thing is I need to be able to select a LOT of polygons and scale/move them along their individual normals rather than their combined normals. This will puff out an object. Also good tip on the reset xform; it solved shading issues too. -

Yep, didn't work though. Is it because I'm exporting as png? I did try some other formats but nothing really changed. I have solved it however by baking it somewhere else using object space maps. However I have not managed to solve it using painter alone. -

Well, in the spirit of just solving the dang problem, have you tried going to element sub-selection, detach/clone just the lid, and delete the original? If that doesn't solve it, then you can try the usual - reset your X-forms, maybe export and import as an OBJ, all that good stuff. -

Yep I was researching that the other day, I plan on using Wolfire's solution since it works really well with a singular set of geometry. My unique constraint is the fact that a player moving through UV shells poses a challenge that decals cannot on their own solve, and must be solved in the inverse approach.
