i was thinking kind of like an aliens style futuristic hallway. I plan on having skyscrapers and buildings that you can see through the glass on the side and top of the modular piece. More grates, and a crapload more pipes and maybe some signs etc. I also plan on having broken sheets of glass with roots and foliage…
This tutorial is about one interesting technique in Modo which I discovered during my researches with modularity and procedural modeling. With it, you can create a lot of generic things in a short amount of time. I had a lot of fun with it during my work and also a lot of pain during creating this tutorial. Hope you'll…
A little while ago, I suggested starting a series of "How To" threads about learning how to do some of the popular things in 3d art modeling as there are many different approaches for doing one thing. For example, this thread being about a building, do you: * model a brick in 3d, copy it multiple times to make a brick…
Thanks so much for the amazing detailed critique guys, it really helped me out. I decided to go with a bit heavier moss to give more color variation, and you are right Iconoplast silly me made it grow from the bottom because i thought for some reason moss it needed cool moist places but after looking at references I…
I find the red a bit jarring, that kind of brick isn't used as an extension on a grey building very often. Then putting a green roof onto it, that really grabs the eye. The roof is pretty intensely saturated towards the sides, if you had the same saturation as the weathered middle it might work. The windows on the second…
Do you have a concept you're trying to match? All I see is the starting stage of a gray model. What's the end result intended to be used for? Are you making a single wall for a small diorama? (one-off unique sculpt makes sense) Or are you making a larger environment with buildings/walls? (modular technique is better, with…
Thank you for your reply! I tried to apply a few of those recommendations, but need a little more time to apply them all, so bear with me! :P I do have an update. I would like to show the community the modular building blocks. Here's another example. I know its a bit too dark!
Looking pretty good. If I had to crit something I would say there are a lot of straight lines and tight right angles. Nothing says poor and ramshackle like a little FFD and fudged up lines. If you're going to build a city, start thinking about working modular...…
Some more objects for the scene gonna post video of the scene soon. Hopefully with Lightmaps and textured ground. Crits/Advice needed :) Neon Light above the Doors Rock sculpted in a modular way, so i can build little rock mountains ^^. In UDK This is ground Shader im working on. Still not sure if those textures are the…
I understand what everyone is saying, but for a building that is meant to looked heavily damaged I don't see how I can do it using a modular format, surely its going to mean like damaged areas will repeat if that makes sense, anyways I'm guna try it and see my results, again though thanks all this is really helpful:)
