I think this method should be able to get you a pattern like this, and this pattern would probably be a really good candidate to learn how to build these kinds of materials w/o image input.
That 1873 Winchester is a western firearm, but as Mr. Ruggles has pointed out, you've modeled a modern pistol. This is what a 19th century S&W looks like: http://64.177.205.5/smith6.jpg http://64.177.205.5/smith5.jpg What you have looks awesome, by the way, but just not accurate for the period.
I'd go, but from London, ONT. to San Fransico just isn't in my budget. I could sell everything I own to make up the money, but then what would I do with the knowledge I had gained? Draw on the sidewalk w/ chalk? Really wish I could go
@n88tr - Yeah, I agree :) I'll be doing the rest of the grain and engravings in post via nDo _ Low Poly w/ bakes: Can't get alpha working in marmoset quite yet, but the bake came out pretty good. I'll clean the rest up as I texture ;)
Hey, Like I said in the video, I duplicate the mesh by using the transpose move tool (W) and then clicking and draging on the middle circle while holding CTRL, you need to be without any subdivision to do this, after this you can do a dynamesh to merge everything cleanly
u can render an actually "dust map" i tthink if you put a omni light on the top of your object and render a light map w/ a skylight + scanline that would work. and i know Max actully has a render "dust map" but i forget where it is :(
I like watching the progress on this project. Its coming along nicely. Warhammer is always rad. Im interested in seeing the altar/pulpit area a bit more cloesly. You may want to soften the octagon shadows outside edge a tad. agree w/ mr AK
Actually, my keyboard isn't wireless. It's strange becuase my wacom has the same issues when near either my desktops keyboard or my laptops (built-in) one. Also have driver issues w/it all the time, but I doubt that has anything to do with it...
Just throwing this out there, because I'm not sure Marmoset supports it, but are you going to put the paneling as a separate material with parallax mapping? I'm thinking it'll look really good on the main plaque and on the tympane/fronton. because they're both inset sculptures like this…
Not sure although I think I am looking at the some kind of humongous violent Crystalline result? ( I was doing research on the sprawling network of tubes that go on forever in the industrial refineries in and around Houston ) take a gander please at the following Google earth link in 3D! ( as much as I ctrl click orbit the…
