Hey to all, I was wondering if anyone knew of an effective way to function the SceneTexture in UDK? Example of what I mean: I want to blur my SceneTexture, so here is what I did first;return tex2D(SceneColorTexture, ScreenAlignedUV(UV)); SceneColorTexture is declared in UDK already, so I use that to be able to use my STC…
The shading is there to compensate for the mesh normals of the low poly. Your baker(max?) and renderer(toolbag) are not properly synced up. Thus = smoothing errors. This is not a "problem" with the bake, but a technical problem with the tools you are using. You can bake and preview your model in: Maya, or 3ds max + 3ps…
Are you seriously comparing working in a studio to joining a competition? I think there is a major difference here. We are game artists we aspire to work on games, the competitions for Dota and TF2 offered massive exposure and a chance to work on games that you love. They weren't arbitrary restrictions. The restrictions…
This is actual one of my favorite shows because I feel like they can cover topics without throwing too much bias. I think the reason you don't get as much praise for these characters or topics in these games can be attributed to exposure. Personally, I don't see a whole lot of advertising for the latest Nancy Drew or other…
Thumbnails could be good, but I think it will big a big detriment to beginners. A few mentioned there isn't time to click into each thread, and that bad/poor art sometimes isn't worth the time. Any time I've visited a forum that had thumbnail previews, it looks cluttered, and I feel more rushed to click into eye-catching…
Gave it a try at IndieCade. The art is definitely there. I like it a lot. Talking with the Native American reps with the game, as it's been said before, they're using the game as another possible way to bring revenue in for their tribal nation/community/government. Hopefully it works out for them, that'd be kind of nice :)…
I'll chime in and give a solution too. I've had good results with this, by creating a small Render to Texture actor placed at the same position/rotation as the flashlight, and then giving it a process to return the Z-Depth. So basically you've got a small texture that now shows rays from the flashlight point outwards. You…
Thanks for the advice, I tried the visarea, but that stopped the sunlight shining through the room, in fact it meant you couldn't see anything outside the windows at all. I have set up an irradiance volume, but is this only to help lights that are created within it and not the sun itself? I kinda of solved the shadow…
An interesting talk on design! One thing I was still curious about is what input you as an artist may have? As is i'll probably make my entrance as a conceptartist but the thing that is most important to me is to make a good game, pretty visuals are of secondary importance if the encounters are dull and the content lacks…
I dont think that he was implying anything in a negative way here, just speaking from a strickly legal viewpoint. I would trust this guy on these matters, as he is highly involved in the hiring process at blizzard. =) I'm pretty sure if Kenny is telling you something is illegal, you can trust his opinion. There could…
