TA is a wide field. I'd check with your new lead what they think you should start working on and then ramp up skills related to that. In general, when I hire new junior TAs I would expect the following: * get a working knowledge with regular Python * learn good coding habits - e.g. proper variable naming, separating code…
You can't paint on the texture in unity (would be fun to have but i think it could be quite time consuming to code that) I model and paint everything in 3ds max sometimes use a little bit photoshop so I didn't made the tiles in unity, just load them glad you like it if you have more ideas (like the texture paint) just post…
Bubba: Yeah its still a little too clean I think. I tried throwing some impact scars on the vehicle, you can see a couple of them but they don't break up the texture enough to make it look used I guess. I will probably work on making it dirtier, but I wanted to see how this one looked in game before I made any more…
i did this primarily because I'm going to need it at work on monday but it's a neat enough trick that it's worth sharing here generally speaking I don't do a lot with fx-maps. most things can be done better in pixel processors if you apply enough maths but in this instance I will need to take advantage of their inherent…

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] wish devs would stick to thier roots and push gameplay over graphics. I'll trade fake SSS and shiny boots for assault anyday. [/ QUOTE ] Er, wtf. Did I read that right?! You're usually pissing and moaning that the games that come out don't *look* like their development shots because they dropped…
well as oposed to any other sucking polycounter working at splashdamage, he as a coder who has nothing to do with polycount was at least THERE :P next time we should start earlier and in a pub, when no one is able to move, the other should have come to us instead of taking us to the cinema :D hope you still had a nice…
The way I'd do it is by using the material workflow. here's a simple example: Substance already comes with a pre-made material node called "fabric009" that you can use with the "material blend" nodes and a few adjustments to make any pattern you want.
Some more updates on the Houdini tree: High poly: Low poly (Remesh and Reduce poly nodes) FBX exported to Unreal: I think it looks nice so far. my next step is to apply some simple texture by using reality scanning, and bake out the branches.
**Disclaimer - I'm not a professional artist, my professional career has been in healthcare technology - I'm not sure how a professional art studio works, but I can suspect that it works quite a bit like a professional software development team.*** For the first 4 years of my career I worked at a large, Fortune 200…
