I don't think judges or prizes are necessary. The only case we can make for having judges is having someone showcase the best of the best when its all over and we can just put up a poll or something for that.
Hey guys! A bunch of updates has happened over the last few weeks : https://www.facebook.com/AdventureOnCloverIsland/ We'll be at Dreamhack Stockholm showcasing the game on the 25-26th September! Here's a peek at some of what I've been doing this week!
There's a decent number of assests included with UE4 throught the content examples, community showcases, and with Unreal Tournament. There's also the Dota2 character models available for download, which are kinda inbetween current and last gen http://www.dota2.com/workshop/requirements
So I started on the helmet. I changed some stuff with the first post realizing that I should probably change it to a fancy showcase once I get the updates in. Anyway, here is the sketch: And here is the current wip of the new sculpt.
we should try to organize a polycount server, im going to start running a server myself.. but i think the possibility for cooperative art creation is just through the roof. would be a really amazing way to showcase everyone's talent here
Don't do it. Just make your own, they will take you as serious as you are with your own work. Even if it's a simple environment to showcase your work, spend the extra time and effort in creating a mini-scene if need be. It will be well worth it.
leleuxart Perhaps I should check out the Kite demo! Are you referring to this technique? https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Resources/Showcases/Stylized/Landscape/index.html It would work for the landscape, but I don't think it would for the grass mesh?
Aaaaauwe yeah! Love the atmosphere! This is showcase/banner shit for realz! Can't you tell us a bit about your workflow? How did you do the rocks? And is the sky photo, hand painted or Vue? Look real nice!
Little overview of another crabby creature sketch, I think this process video does a nice job of showcasing my approach to distribution of volumes and distortion of anatomy in a way that "makes sense" https://www.instagram.com/p/CADJbc6DS-W/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet
Calling it done for now - I should probably be working a bit more on the texture on the sail/wings, but I think the time will be better spent learning how to showcase this thing in Unreal. Hopefully I'll figure it out - if not, here's my finished thing! :)
