False alarm, I am apparently not anywhere near to through with it, since it seems what I have set up is in fact set up with every material id resulting in its own separate texture set and I apparently need to bake an ID map instead and begin to develop/distribute materials based on that. Back to square one.
I figured it out. For some reason 3ds max rendered some noise into the ID map, which Quixel/Photoshop was so keen to differentiate between and was handling it as separate ID... I got rid of the noise, rerendered the project, now everything works just fine and I feel stupid now. Thanks so much, Synaesthesia for your help!
Basically works the same. Just give the window are a seperate Material ID and assign a glass material/shader in the engine on that Model. (You need the Mat IDs if you just use one material, otherwise you can just use different material/texture with 2 model parts so just detach the window area and export it as seperate…
You can separate your mesh in to Texture Sets by applying a different Material ID to whichever parts you would like to isolate when in Painter. You can still export the mesh as one .fbx but when you bring the mesh in to Painter it will detect the individual Mat ID's and you will be able to hide and bake specific pieces…
does it have to be soft alpha ? if alpha-test/masked is good enough id say make the whole thing one material. if this prop is supposed to be used 1000+ on screen id also say one material only ! but if its a one two or three times on screen deal and you must have soft alpha than do 2 materials !
ah! Im not a greedy suit so I didnt even think of dlc split screen! but shit, Id buy NFS The Run and Hot Pursuit in a jiffy if they had that option. 1p out of the box, sucks as shit, but with a dlc (which would just add something that should have been there from the get go..), Id buy it! lol
Nice! Id say go 50% of the lighting from the newest shot. Me id blur out the light projectors in general, and even more so the further out they are from the window. I would love to see this with an added "good"white/blue side of the map for a larger map. Maybe a good and a evil side with a neutral destroyed center.
I live slapbang in the middle of nowhere, but if I had company id probably be outside drawing a hell of a lot more. Over summer I got really fucking restless if the weather was nice - i just had to get on my bike and go out indefinately else id get this weird feeling about being at a standstill. D:
yes you can use SATA with IDE. just like IDE RAID setups, you'll need a 2nd SATA HDD of the same kind to make a RAID setup. on another note, if your installing windows from a fresh start, you will need your mobo's SATA drivers on floppy to insstall windows, or else it won't detect the drive.
i love your car models and props, id even say that you should post a tutorial of your work flow on the site. The 2d stuff is kinda avg though...id maybe leave that out because i think your strongest skill is modeling and you don't want anything to hurt your chances of getting a job.
