I would say for now try to focus on creating materials. Many items on enviroments are simple shapes. You can create astonishing enviromental work without having alot of modeling skills.
damn even flatshade is awesome to look at. congrats ! i really like enviros like this , where you actually show the scene etc and try to accomplish post effects by old school techniques.
im really loving the mood and overall feel of this level. Obviously lots of the machinery and enviroment parts would look better if they were higher poly, but for lower poly it still looks quite wonderful
I don't think it looks bad at all. It just looks flat. The enviroments look good, but some of the props/characters don't go well with them because the backgrounds have lighting and they don't.
I was planning on doing an Enviro piece almost exactly like this upon my return to the states...since Ive spent the last month or so crawling around in jungles, caves and Mayan ruins...

I'm looking forward to playing more crysis, the second one was stellar. I want to see some other enviros than dark flooded new york street jungles in the next trailers.
Hello there, I'm an enviroment artist who works out of Unreal 4 and I am interested in working with you on this project. My portfolio can be viewed here: https://www.artstation.com/artist/kevinmartin
Marmoset definitely isn't ideal for full enviroments. And although I don't think Marmoset itself is used by any video game, there's many games that use the same tech and similar lighting models.
