this is called im- and exporting. as long as you just swap meshes back and forth there wont be many errors. its getting a little more tricky when you want to do the same with animations, there is the .fbx format (3dsmax proprietary) but as always it doesnt work 100% of the times.
Not a problem Oddly enough to do that, you HAVE to make the skeleton a playable model, because when the character dies, it's a swap of a complete model, and then the application of the Karma tools. Making the eyes glow would be easy, but making it smoke... Yeah I'll have to look into that. Scott Scott
ah my stuff was way more complex than a model swap to be honest (which won't work. Was basically a whole new game mechanic). Might do something new someday. Just to see what happens. Polycount rushing to do models now? :D
I really, really need windows to work properly, I dont have them at work and it sucks big time. Kinda depressing. but we can swap places pretty easily tho so I think everybody can be happy. But yeah sun rocks.
luckily nobody here at Falcon Northwest leaves messes in the bathroom. we did ahve a sewage problem a little while ago where every day at a certain time the bathroom would just reek. luckily we called the sewer people and got that taken care of.
update on the modeling. I have the smaller buildings almost completed. changes to the concept have not been made yet but I can simply change out the lighting and swap diffuse maps to accommodate any changes. let me know what you all think!
I use segmented meshes all the time when building enviornments. This is mainly so that I have the ability to instance geometry, or quickly add things here or there. Our characters also have some segmented elements. Watches, ties, etc, are seperated out, for swapping.
It's running into a device that it can't handle. My guess is that it's a malfunctioning device. In this case I'd troubleshoot by brute force approach. If you have an old video card you can use try installing that since it's hanging at the display detection. Next I'd swap the motherboard/memory.
Do you have an extra video card laying around that you could try temporarily? Or another computer that you can temporarily swap with? Even if it's a lesser video card, it could help confirm/deny the video card as the cause.
That or go find a real hobo thats about your size and ask if you can swap clothes.. you'll get a free costume and will make the hobos day ! double win ! wont cost too much to dress up like this
