Like an ingame FX challenge? With billboards and such. That would also be an interesting challenge...I would probably only be an envious fanboy for that one though. I've tried particles in my time, but not for ages...
shadows still feel too black and dark. I'd maybe probe a color from the enviro for the colors of the shadows then make them even less dense. Looks fucking awesome still though.
I am most interested in Prop and Enviroment/Level Design side of modeling. As for character modeling, I will wait until I have a good foundation in 3D work before I start on that.
I've done a few other roles, but enviro makes me happiest. I love arranging a beautiful play space, especially lighting. Some other threads about this. http://wiki.polycount.com/CategoryDiscipline
I'd suggest you're going to get most return from a modular asset pack - such as a themed enviro set. It's more initial work but the more flexible the end product, the wider appeal it will have.
Was watching the GDC on uncharted 4's enviro art and it was just so inspiring to see the worlds being built and the feeling of satisfaction those people must get seeing their stuff in a aaa game
I saw that one through the vimeo group "Game Anim Demo Reels" - really awesome work! I'm envious of you that you get to play around with so fun animations:) /Morris
Trying to focus on making enviroments for portfolio now. Decided on boring medieval style, but I would try do add some cartoony feel to it. Starting out with block out for a forge today.
enjoying all the chrono trigger love lately. between this, Robbyh making a enviroment from the game, and my revamping of Frog. haha. cool model though, can't wait to see him posed
great work! I love the un-straightness of the whole enviroment. Only thing I see is that the stairs seem a bit wierd, not sure if it is the perspective or texture or whatever but it looks kinda awkward to me
