I thought I should let you know... The free stuff in https://www.3ddsaddict.com/blog/12-all-base-human-figures-are-free-on-daz-3d/ had all been taken away! All I can find for free are the accessories!
each object needs a second UV channel and there are some unreal specific rules for how those uvs are layed out. 3dmotive has a free video about it here: http://www.3dmotive.com/training/free/creating-a-lightmap-uv-channel/?follow=true
Yusssssssssss Best thing I've ever listened to. Incredible amounts of info and insanely captivating in the way he presents it. Currently doing a very long series about WW1, but his series on the Mongols is what everyone recommends listening to first and it indeed kicks ass.
I think I might try something like this: http://www.3dtotal.com/tutorial/2263-environments-in-zbrush-snowy-cave-zbrush-by-glen-southern-environment-ice-snow But I'm not sure how he gets the BackFace Masking to work on his tubes...
Not sure if you are from the same school, but another student named Scott Jones discussed the same topic on a very robust white paper awhile back. We wrote an article about it on 3dmotive :) http://www.3dmotive.com/awesome-white-paper-on-modularity-in-games/
Always enjoy seeing pieces like this man, really nice. I also like the style of it, seems a bit bulkier... more stylized which really adds some character to such a "well known" object (see these trucks in many ww2 games). nice man :)
check out this hard surface texturing tutorial from Stefan Morell, its awesome for stuff like this and maybe it will help you with that metal look. Hopefully this link from 3d total works :) http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials/stefan_morrell/stefan_01.asp
Moving this out of the "Boston marathon bombing thread". WW3 sounds about right, wow that was one hell of a blast... Pics from NPR's blog coverage: http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2013/04/18/177722739/texas-fertilizer-plant-blast-killed-several-injured-dozens
