Ok some handpainted stuff. Took about 2h (modelling, uving, texturing). Of course texture is wip. Ohhh its 1024x256 and flat shading. And thats how uv layout looks like... I feel like I don't really use this 1024x256 as well as it could be used.
If you need UDIMs or handpainted style mudbox is still a valid solution. We use it also for fixing textures from Substance. And mudbox is the only solid tool if you need to sculpt and paint on the same asset with UDIMs. It depends on your needs. But yes Substance is the way to go.
Long Time no update so just dropping a sculpt update in here , not sure whether to take it through the contest or finish and try and stylise it to look more like a character from Warcraft or Dota! Nice and handpainted or use substance for the contest :/ any ideas and critique welcome guys!
And some shots of the textures i've done so far, diffuse aren't perfectly tiling atm. :( These are all from photoreference obviously, i've handpainted some details - but they were rushed for my exam so i SHOULD go back and fix them....but they suit the environment for now.
whats it supposed t o be? a night elve lamp? i'm gonna keep an eye on this, handpainted textures are the most gorgeous! it would be awesome if you'd take several shots of the texturing stages for people like me who arent as good, to get the workflow better... (for learning purposes)
Really cool chainmail Arvin. As you asked a feedback on the rocks. Might just be my opinion but the idea of "handpainted" would be more to the fact that they are naturally painted ;) Maybe if you add some kind of effect of brush strokes that would help. Also some edging breakup would also add.
Daaamn Milly, your handpainted stuff is rad - I also thought it was just a painting at first. Did you model these characters too? Will they be rendered with flat lighting for the final presentation? Looks like Runescape has changed quite a bit since I was 10 yrs old.... Keep it up :)
I see what you guys are saying with the specular map and it's true i could tweak it for more contrast. But i didn't want to go for full realism with bright specular highlights and deep normal map. I wanted it to have the more soft, handpainted look of the original resin model.
well ok then, another update i handpainted the normals on the shoulders and main power circuit breaker battery plug converter thingy. and added a power button, i guess its pretty obvious, hehe. i'm having problems with max normals coming off all messed up usually.
