I also haven't done any texturing/material work yet. Everything was made it Autodesk Maya and I have about 4 aiStandardShaders in the scene currently that I have barely touched.
Tools aren't really my problem, it's the basic workflow as pointed out by Matt Fagan. UV visibility vs selectability, UV sync, etc. Just incompatible with me it appears. Thankfully my job doesn't require complex UV mapping or I'd have to either bring in a speciality app or use Autodesk for that. If I need anything done…
Houdini Core is comparable to the annual cost of autodesk software. I don't think the cost of the software really matters much though. If it did, everyone would be using Blender.
And finally Autodesk Mudbox. After the transfer of the existing models into this program I started finishing work. Adjusting the shape and texturing. At this point, I ended up boots, jeans,
Yes,and its way worse as sometimes Maya crashes. It crashes less when I use the Autodesk Media & Entertainment preset. But the errors and problems still come up with it.
still having this ******* problem in 2018. anyone know if Autodesk is aware how much we pay for their program? I mean this is not a 60$ K2 game where bugs are expected...
The team is still seeking a UI Artist (comfortable with Flash, Graphic Design and/or has experience with Autodesk Scaleform). We are also seeking one more Rigger to join the team!
You can bake it in another program and import it manually. Although this feature only works with older 3DS Max since Autodesk dropped Mental Ray in newer versions.
123D Sculpt -from Autodesk and fun for a laugh. Sword & Sworcery EP -is pretty. Zen Brush -I found fun for quick sketches. And Kindle is a must if you read.
I just installed the trial version of MAX 2008. I'm impressed. The texture baking with Mental Ray seems to work without any problems or artifacts. WTG AUTODESK!
