With a prebuilt you can kind of shrug off the PC having a lousy PSU since you really don't have many options there, and because the warranty will take care of your entire PC. On the other hand, if you built the PC yourself and your system gets fried you have to deal with a ton of warranties, plus you have all the options… -

First thing to consider : what is the material?
