Be ready for Skyrim, eh? That computer will be ready for Battlefield 3.... :) Yes, I also say to build your own computer. Here is what I want to get in the next couple of months. Before, to get the top of the line custom built computer like this, it used to cost $2000+.... now you can easily swing it at $1000 or even…
hey all, just wanted to throw this out there. started building pieces for a medieval environment set. it will be viewed from the inside of the castle walls (courtyard looking to the walls). this is for a small project i am working on. thought i would post updates and see what you guys are thinking. thanks!
this was an advanced blockout from two weeks ago, i had to work on other projects but im back on this until the end. So far i have started the sculpture work on the pillars and i started building the main modular textures. should have much more to show at the end of the week.
@throttlekitty No, that was really helpful. I felt like my questions were somewhat vague so your answers were perfect! -Z-fighting. Glad it has a word. Sounds like an easy enough fix and in this case I will probably just move the walls out a little bit since I still want the player to rotate around the ground level from…
reminds me a lot of "hawken" texture style wise. Really love this piece. I love the smoke pouring out of the tubes, i do wish there was a little more cascade as they reach the ground instead up ending a little short but none the less a great example of modular building and texturing.
If you were working on ps2 spec, that sort of hardware generally handles more, smaller textures better. But modern hardware, you want to pack in as much into 1 texture as posible. I generally texture modular sets for entire buildings with 1 single set of 2048s to reduce draw calls.
Some friends and I were part of this year's studio layoffs so while we search for new jobs we decided to work on a game together! It's basically a simulator game where you run a book store, similar to TCG and Grocery Store Simulator but we've got some plans to push the genre farther. I've been mostly working on the…
Nothing too special except you need to make sure stuff that should move together has the same vertex weights. Btw.. I guess you mean skinning instead of rigging but if you want to build a rig then I don't know of anything that would work differently for modular characters.
I will do that and see where it ends up, I'm guessing for modular building as future ref inside your 3d program you make your pieces then map them straight away then model away with them later on I can't believe I'm having such a hard time understanding it aha
Finished building the modular pieces (except the floor) and assembled it in engine. I had a few lightmap errors but I think I managed to mostly fix them. (lighting is extremely WIP and will definitely be changed, mostly just for testing purposes atm) without the props: Next job is to start on the brick substance.
