I think it makes more sense if you think of aesthetics as a practical thing in context. eg. flowers are bright and colorful to attract bugs, not for the sake of being beautiful. Practical and aesthetic are not mutually exclusive. But just make sure you keep it consistent within the game universe and you should all be good.… -

I like the desaturated look but I think you could really benefit from some color to highlight certain things really make them pop it would add some focal points.
