Hello everybody, i would like some feedback on my new project, i did some post on it to try to show how it would look like at the end. I'm looking for some feedback to make it better. Thanks. I'm using Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Nuke, Unfold3D, Marvelous Designer, Mari and Arnold Render.
UVW auto seams, unfolding and packing. It seems like such a perfect fit for AI neural networks. Even though programs like Unfold3d are very good, they make stupid mistakes. For example auto seams for cylinders. AI could be far better at unwrapping and packing than any human, even with current technology.
other than the obvious must have's (main 3d app: max/maya, 2D app: PS, sculpt app: ZB) to do your work... wScite, adblock, xnview, crazybump, nvidia normal map plugins, nDo, filetexturemanager (maya), idlm (take that slow network!), unfold3D
No script necessary, the UV Layout tool works pretty well. Copy your diffuse/UV set 0 into a new UV set, and run Layout. I love the new Unfold3d unfold algorithm, but you can always switch back to the legacy version in the Unfold tool settings.
Aha! Haven't seen that one for awhile! Yeah Deep UV did do a pretty decent job of unwrapping, especially considering how long it's been around for compared to some of the newer solutions available. I really liked using the trial version of unfold3d. My biggest peev with it was that there's no way to tweak or edit your UV's…
What version of Maya are you using? 2015 they added Unfold3D tech into the mix, and there were a lot of UI changes in 2017 Update 3. Mark Seams = Cut Seams Unwrap command = Unfold command Also, why just just unwrap in blender and bring it back into Maya. No one will be the wiser. :)
You're welcome. :) I find that Maya's UV tools are robust enough that I no longer need to rely on plugins like Roadkill or applications like Headus and Unfold3D. I do use 3DCoat's UV tools occasionally though, especially when I retopo as the tools are wonderfully integrated into the retopology process.
QFA, u can have a look at the modo too, maybe EQ will like you.. :p each software like maya, max, modo has basic unwrapping method. If you really want to get the job done easier, try uvlayout or unfold3d. Those software has dedication in uv-ing.
Did a couple of long and painful UV sessions in Maya. I thought that maybe unfold was just made to be... goofy in 2018. Turns out I didn't have the Unfold3D plugin loaded, so maya runs a considerably less useful unwrap routine. only 90's kids will remember, etc, etc.
