Hey guys! First time posting here so I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered before buut I'm having a real hard time producing a good looking result cutting details into curved surfaces like so: . I've tried a few different methods, and haven't really come up with a satisfactory solution. Shape I'm going for has a…
This is a hard surface thread, so i dont think you are going to get much help for something like this. Prob. better posting somewhere else on the forum :)
How would you approach a complex object such as this??? I wouldn't even know where to start with this? Lots of indented screws and such on complex intersecting surfaces...any thoughts?
@sixbysix go a bit above and few pages back, I and wirex shared the workflow to this that work on curves so your surface is flat and should work for this too.
@sacboi thank you for respond. However, I guess that this way with cylinder is not enough for my complex case. It is very parametrical surface, and probably badly maked, just look.
@FrankPolygon thanks, I massively appreciate the detailed response. After reading your post a good few times, there are still some things which remain unclear to me. Would you be able to elaborate on: "It may be helpful to start by analyzing the reference images to identify and categorize the object's surface shapes. Look…
Right, but I guess I was asking for something more concrete. Is that how people do models with a mix of surface types? They do the soft body stuff in Mudbox and then tack on the hard surface stuff as separate models? Do you then take that frankenstein collection of meshes and retopo into a low poly mesh, weld verts and…
Hey guys, I'm coming from a mostly organic background but I really want to be more comfortable in hard surface modelling. I'm modelling an environment and have come across a problem. As you can see in the image below I ran into some issues with support edges causing artefacts on the curved surface. I've posted an image of…
