Using the Relax and Push modifiers together a lot on sub object selections. Symmetry modifier chains with different mirror axis rotations (good for 3D concepting). -

indeed I usually separate chunks off basically by angle, relax them, stitch them together where appropriate and then pack everything. works in everything (although I prefer to use max because obviously) not relying on fancy tools means you don't end up stuck when they go away. -

There is also a conform MCG. You can also add to it. I added relax controls to smooth out the mesh after it has been conformed, for example. -
