IDK how to export hard edges from maya into smoothing groups in max. Maybe google can help there. But for this specific model, in your last pic, hit autosmooth in the red circle by a low angle number like 5.
Hey guys, any one have any tips on how to possibly create the reflective material circled in red here: Any help would be very much appreciated because I have no idea where to even start!
If you have your glass in another mesh and bake from the red dot sight, you can draw a red circle ( the crosshair) on the position were you like on your emmisive map (the red dot and the rest black)
Better, but I still think the circle for the insignia shouldn't jut out on the handle. This may be a completely different style gun, but take a look at how the smith and wesson logo is integrated into the handle of the highway patrolman. Try something like that.
Not in the front :< Think of the ladies ! There's nothing more tacky than a bit flat design printed on your tshirt, the printing crack really fast because of the stretch (even more since it's a completely fill circle, there's no "air" to help it not crack)
Looks nice so far, but I don't know how his belt's circle thing still holds after being cracked xD I like the cloth you did, can you show how it was made?
The result would not really be bad topology, unless the hidden triangulation was done poorly. For example if the circled vertices were connected to each other by super thin triangles. So it's best to check the resulting topo before you export.
I have no clue. I tried to do it and this is what I got: The shape is sorta similar, but I went the wrong way when trying to make the circle. Hopefully someone can let us both know... :P
Personally, I dislike greeble. It's all nonfunctional noise. Those two gratings on the top are nice, they seem useful as vents. The ribs on the bottom and the circle things (door/exit?) are okay too. But all of the insets and extrusions are rather meh.
added the missing parts of the machine, not quite happy with the scratches all over the machine, maybe redo them. Also I'm not sure about how to setup a material which glows, needed for the circle (which is now grey as a placeholder)
