Normally I would tell you to explode the mesh ie: offset each of the high poly and low poly counterparts so you can bake a clean normal map, vertex color map etc... But TBH I think you should reconsider your low poly and make it one piece, since nothing really deviates too much from the shield shape. -

As for critiques, perhaps the wear and tear on the shield could be enhanced, paint chipping, wear around the edges etc. IMO the knife could use another color somewhere to make it pop. Keep it up! Shapes are strong, but something nags me about his right arm, maybe there's some simple way to balance it against the shield, or contrast it more. Maybe play with the color of the black band? Honestly, I would just create different models and animation rigs for each type, and use morph targets for similar hair models. Then have the coders give you a way to swap models durring gameplay. 1.
