I think the problem is that a lot of folks here are game animators and most game engines don't support blendshapes. That's more of a "Cinematics" thing. Ah, yeah I suppose you'd have to invert your selection. I generally don't have a large amount of objects I need to toggle on/off with the hide hotkey. I actually switched to Blender from Maya, but when I switched from 3ds max to Maya I can say that after getting used to using Maya I got more productive once I started to use scripts to improve my workflow in various ways.
