Reading around, some people claim that winning in super cars is effectively counting across all classes. I haven't checked in LSC with every class but I for sure have turbo for sports and muscle cars. It's like $40k a pop though, hah.
You will need to really apply yourself either way. If you are focused you will learn what you need to outside of school, if you're not, then you would just be wasting 40k anyway doing the bare minimum for grades (which equals a useless portfolio).
It is just a simple environment presentation about 400 Unreal Units big, so not very large in scale. But yeah I do like the idea of the camera being attached to the player to give the illusion of swaying in the ocean, how can I pull that off?

good advice on the render but it;s not a krogan, the grendal is based off the carnifex and other tyranid creatures from 40k, i am trying to embed the image but none of the "insert image" buttons are working (the link just 'breaks') ..oh wait that one worked
I usually have a regular entry in SD's "What are you playing" blog. Unfortunately it's nearly always ETQW... I think I've racked up over 400 hours of play time on that so far. http://www.splashdamage.com/taxonomy/term/15
You can spray a thin coat of gloss on it, I'd wet-sand it with something like 400 grit sandpaper afterwards(be careful, tape everything you can't take off!!!), next time I'd read up and go paint all the way.
400 is pretty low for a full body, so you would need to make the head pretty much a blob. But if that's the budget for the head alone, you could add more detail in eyes, mouth, ears. Some lowpoly examples here http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/FaceTopology http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/BaseMesh
