It's not on steam tho, and amazon only have used copies. I haven't torrented a game for years now, and I don't wanna break that streak with American McGee's Alice. Might order a used copy, fuck it. Edit nice: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/americanmcgeesalice

what i would do is, save a copy of the scene, and in this copy, attach all the objects and make a new UV-map on map channel 2, then add whatever lighting you want and bake that down with render to texture. Then split the objects back up if necessary. And save again.

A much healthier games industry would be one were there is no need for publishers where studios can survive off the sales of the games. That's what they are trying to bring about. Publishers are only needed in the hard copy market. Any new platform that doesn't require a hard copy is a good thing.
i know this doesnt help as much, but if you can get a copy or trial of kaldera, try it. it is much more robust and understandable. i have a copy at work, and all the creature guys ask me to process their normals as it does such a better, cleaner job than max7 does natively.
Max can save out files to older formats. Like max 2012 can save as 2012, 2011, or 2010 .max files. If your clients files cant be opened in your copy of max, just ask them to save it out into a version that's compatible with your copy of max.
