Hello! I am currently exercising and trying to put up a first portfolio. I worked on these stones in Blender3D and I would love some feedback on them and if they are at least close to portfolio material. Thank you for your time! - The ivy is generated with the ivy addon- the stones have the normal and cavity maps hand made…
Very nice work, glenatron. I am not entirely sold on the variety of stone sizes you use (the road cobblestone feels too small compared to other floor stones, for example). Other than that, really nice, love the textures feel and overall color scheme. Keep it up!
I know what you mean about looking like stone, it's what I'm struggling with. This kind of crude iron does look very similar to stone in many ways I think, especially without any specular information. I'll try some different surface detail.
In progress. Yeah the blue tiles are too small. Then you can maybe add more color variations to it. Also for the texture above, only make a quarter of that grey circle :p mmh i think i prefered the white stones on top and the double row of grey stones below.
Nromal mapping on the stone looks much better already. Keep it up, you should also improve the roof a little, it has the same problem as your stone before, depth. Also maybe add a pointlight where your walls are very dark to show those windows a bit
Placement pass finished. Next pass will be a cut down pass to make it look more like stone. After I get all the general shapes down looking like stone I will work on medium detail then head into smaller detail like cracks and scratches and rock pores.
Hey Shiv, Knald has "enable noise reduction" enabled by default. This makes the textures slightly more blurry/smoother. Maybe that's what's causing it? As for the texture I feel like the space between stones might be a bit to wide? Depending on what the size of your stones are supposed to be of course.
Very nice, I like it, too bad the scale is off :poly136: Also fill the stones with pure white/gray/black and set it to overlay at low opacity, maybe it would help to break the flatness and bring some variations/deep in the stones. Definitly looking forward to see more :)
This is going into UT, right? I'll most definitely download this model when it's done: I'll know instantly when I've hit a server with you playing on it :P Anyway, is this a living gargoyle or a stone one? 'cos if he's stone...he needs cracks! Maybe even bullet holes
the stones could use some love. I made rocks recently think less saturated X 20 also I'd make the stones smaller cause as it stands now you will be able to tell it's tiling, same thing with the pink flowers. As for hand painted I'm not a very good judge on that.
