Artaekos, I am going for a stone look. I actually haven't thought about the specific sort of stone material. I'll try to revise the colors and give you guys an update soon. Xaragoth it is Diablo 3-ish inspired in terms of the texturing.
That's a good point splash, i didn't really think of cutting them out from the top. The texture is supposed to be carved from stone.. Maybe i'll go back and paint some like cracks to distinguish the stone blocks that they used to put it together.
I think you should tone down the grime and rust on the stove and brown chair. The brown chair looks like it went through hell I would think there would be some stuffing popping out or tears.
I sculpted stones for the building's base, as well as the BAKER sign. I was becoming a bit discouraged, but ever since the stones, stairs, and the sign, I feel I'm moving forward again! There is still a decent amount of assets to create, so wish me luck!
Started on the high poly... I'm still kind of new to zbrush, but working with the flatten, trim, planar and orbs to get that shattered stone look. I am pretty sure I need to go broader on the detail so I'm reworking some of the stone faces.
Try to follow the concept as much as possible. That's not a greyscale image, it's a color representative of the materials. This is a carved stone monument with all decorative details being carved from the stone itself. That means no blue shingles, no metal emellishments etc. For more material ref, google "mausoleum".
Cool! It looks like the area surrounding the stone blocks looks more like clay than stone. I'm not a rock sculpting expert, but I'd look into using a flat brush like trim dynamic or hpolish to achieve that look. Check out the rawk thread for inspiration.
Added some small marks and wear on the stone edges in parts, but am definitely going to add more in the future. There is now a larger separation between the pavers and a subtle rotation on them as well. Also, knocked back the small stones a little. Thanks for looking! normal: w/ diffuse:
The biggest issue i see with the texture is the blending between the stones and the mud in between, it really stands out in a bad way. As ghost stated your normal map is maybe a bit weak in terms of overall detail as it looks kind of smooth, especially your stone pieces.
i like it. really cool design for the chainmail. just for presentation sake, maybe it would be kind of neat if you went onto that plane he is standing on and cut around the stones, and give it a bit of depth, like he's actually standing on stones instead of just a plane. :D
