I find that watching a movie with good cinemetography gets me started pretty well. Sets the mood, gives you idea for characters/enviroment themes, etc.
love the first pose, but might want to be down that enviro map or reflection you got going on there. right now it looks like he is just waaaaaaaaaay to glossy.
Has anyone used Quixel for envionments? I'm thinking about using it as a tool for texturing entire areas, like buildings and street, lamps, etc. However, i'm worried that the polycount would crash the app.

after I bake lighting I have these strange violet shadows in my light maps. My enviroment color is a dark violet so that might me part of it, but these are very distinct.
not bad, but not impressive. All of these could be better Mabey add some grim on the bed or a wrinkled blanket, peeling paint. Get on those enviroments man. keep it up!
Skin and hair are two of the hardest materials to get right, and characters have costumes that contain lots of different materials, just as many, if not more than enviroment artists.
