hm how many tris do those objects have ? just wondering if a trivial "test all tris with all tris" algorithm would work, or if someone would need to do some spatial structuring to reduce from O(n^2) complexity
I had a look at it and to be honest its nowhere near as good. Original procedural algorithms allowed for much more "clumpy" looks rather than purely relying on gradient / object space textures and then overlaying (texture) material over it and calling it done.
Honestly... pelt mapping isn't all it was cracked up to be since they improved the relax algorithms. I would cylindrical unwrap it and relax parts and pieces with soft select turned on. Or planar map it, select your pelt seams break the edges and relax.
Virtus Learning Hub Game Jam What is the #VirtusJam? The Virtus Jam is a relaxed competition in which you make a game based on the theme (which will be announced at 6pm on 20th April) and submit it before 6.00pm on 11th May. It will be a great opportunity to meet new people and become part of a growing community as you…
It looks like the map you're using as a basis for distortion is getting highly compressed if it's giving you shapes like that. I'd suggest checking what compression algorithm it uses when importing. Normal maps often get pretty highly compressed, so be sure to check that.
Zremesher doesn't currently seem to respect the guides too well unless you really crank their strength up to 99 or 100 (and even then it might not work to well). This has been a common problem for a while now, ever since they changed its algorithm to reduce spirals.
Jerc and I are two different person ;) The supersampling in SD basically works the same way, if you choose 8x it computes the map at 8 times the output resolution. The only difference may be the algorithm to downsize the image. Which one do you use in PS ? Nicolas
This is a completely wild guess but instead of increasing the DynaMesh resolution try increasing the size of the model under Tools > Geometry > Size > XYZ Size. My thought is that at very fine resolution the algorithm is messing up, but larger size and a smaller res might change the math to work.
I make High_Poly Weapon, my 1st model without any helpers only me and xsi and my knowlogy about weapon which is zero about matching pretty simple algorithm: creaty camera, put image, creaty box, find DOF and perspective
I was a longtime user of Headus UV (5 years) but I have to say Unfold 3D is a true delight, and has a better unfold algorithm for unwrapping all object types. As well as tools in unwrap styles. Give it a try if you get the chance.
