Your files need to be named like this --> KEN.1001.EXR, KEN.1002.EXR And you need to use the VRayHDRI node to load the textures in max. I could be wrong i used max the last time 2014. -

Exit edit mode and clear the document. Set the RGB and Z Intensities to 100, then redraw the tool onto the document and go back into edit mode. Any value less than 100 (even as high as 99) will cause that behavior. There's a bug with projection master (caused by saving projects in 2.5d mode, which includes quick saves)… -

Yes, you are doing this the right way. Mirroring connected geometry is fine. A single smoothing group should work, however Max's in-viewport preview of normal maps isn't 100% accurate, you'd probably get better results if you viewed the model and normalmaps in a game engine (or maybe try Jogshy's XNormal program). a tunnel that goes nowhere, with nothing interesting at the end, is not very interesting... that said, i dont think u need to add 100 stuff, focus on design - if simple - and make it work. as said mostly lighting effects - think this is 100% darkness with lamps.. make them illuminate, they are just blank almost. fog is ok… -
