thanks for the quick response, belkun. interesting you pointed that out, i was worried i went too over the top with the back piece. still very much a wip! maybe instead of the chains, i could put two bands of cloth with some runes/designs. will be making another pass in a day or two, so we'll see how the final turns out. -

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback, really appreciate it. Good point about the overuse of grunge - I agree it can read too uniform and artificial, especially on the materials and wear patterns.
