First off ignore whatever it puts in the render preview window, this can not be trusted, ever. It is a full render of the object and normally contains scene lighting which in most cases is the viewport lighting. If you move your view around to another spot on the model it will render differently, don't trust it, just… -

I know Low Odor was having tons of issues with it at work. There is a few hot fixes that he installed, so far it seems to have worked. it's definitely the fastest browser i've used on my pentium II 233mhz, faster than so-called "fast" Opera and even Seamonkey. 486 and Pentium testing pending. now it needs a java vm! -

Hmmm... it might be a hardware conflict, you said you tried with ram, did you tried also without any other card except the graphic card? (meaning, 1hdd, 1ram, graphic card) I had blue screen of death when I added my WIFI card, I had to switch my graphic card to another PCIE slot and it worked fine. Tho the error message… -

That was a bug that they patched early on in 3dsmax2012, so make sure you're running the latest service pack. I think, if you held down shift or alt or some combination it would revert back to the standard way of scaling uniformly, but you should still get the latest service pack.… -
