A rant, about using photos in textures.
what's wrong with it exactly? there's always a few people on the boards who go off about "what ever gets the job done is fine" but i still see a whole bunch of artists never trying to use any photos, ever, and i just don't get it. i do see it as somewhat honorable that someone might want to hand paint everything, but… -

why not? why do you need to be flexible if you're kickass at what you're doing? There's many top notch artists who just stick to a very narrow subject matter. The point is: just be good at what you're doing! -

There is one thing that Macs fail at. Building your own system with top of the line equipment you choose. I have no sympathy for people whom use HP or Dell as comparisons as reason why Macs are better. Why don't they try like Falcon Northwest or companies that specifically use name brand components and hand build systems… -

The tech artists in most demand or those who have a degree in Computer Science/Engineering (including Computer Graphics classes) but also have taken 3d art classes and have made indie/hobby games in their spare time.
