So you're saying all the extruding parts could just be separate pieces put together? I could do that I think.. Connecting them would be the biggest issue though.
Lol, my bad. Im thinking about extruding the polygons around that area and then subdeviding and sculpting. That way I still get the illusion that there is mass there but I also get the sculpted details...
thanks guys :) Blue it is! Did some more tweaking, did some of the windows and next up is the door and clock! Then extruding some of the roof tiles and finally starting on some final textures :)
looks like the detail on the side of the gun could have more depth, bring buttons or extrudes out more, push indentations in more. might not be very realistic but it should look better
Yeah the scratches and damage doesn't really make sense right now. The nobs and anywhere extruded would have some grime and scratches, and other signs of being used around them. Parts look way to clean for having those scratches.
I'd have sculpted it out of extruded boxes. It's a base mesh, it doesn't have to be perfect. Honestly man you've been working on this for almost 5 months now, just even out the topology into squares and start carving away at it in zbrush/mudbox.
Hehe yeah, wasn't that hard though. Copied the faces of that area, smoothened them up X times and then extruded the wanted dots / stripes - if that wasn't clear for you :P Hope it'll give a better normal than when done in photoshop.
The Zbrush way to do that would be to define your extruded shapes with the mask tool, then create polygroups from this mask and from there you have a tool that modifies the topology to make it follow the curves nicely. I don't remember the precise process, though.
Man this is awesome and your door panel makes so much sense. I sat here and thought why didnt I think of that to just extruded it out and cover it with panels. I am going to do that from now on. Awesome work.
great, thanks. i was just wondering. does anyone else know if it is possible to hotkey values like 0,5,10,25, etc. when adding loops, or chamfers or extrudes or if it is possible for the move transform type in, say a hotkey to zero out x? Thanks.
