Ok, so say for example I had a brick. Could I take the base color texture, and in photoshop, play with the hue/saturation modifier till the texture appears very white (because brick has a very rough surface), and that would be my roughness map? Could this method also be used on all textures?
Hi everyone, we want to announce that we are moving the Them & Us project to the Unreal Engine 4 due to better graphics, shader v5.0, better lighting and daily updates. Right now myself I am currently working brick by brick the mansion level once again and I have a lot of fun
Try adding a little color variation in your scene, right now the roof, walls and chimney are all in the same color range. I also doubt that a roof like that could be made out of those bricks. If it would however have been made with those bricks, the roof should be like 3 times as thick.
I've decided to add this arch in order to get rid of that square look that the basement had. Right now I think that the brick on the arch are too small. I should probably double the size of the brick. @Eirikra I've taken the poly count down on the couch, it's now around 5,000 polys with both the cloth and pillow.
just finished this up today. These are 2 different variants of brick that will be blended together using the entropy method created by Ryan Smith. On the left, standard version. On the right, the damaged version that will be used to vertex blend on the normal one to break up tiling. Probably going to do this method for all…
I normally would want to wait until I get a bit further to make a topic but with this being such a departure to what I normally make I wanted to get as many crits and or tips along the way. Not only that but not enough topics start from the very beginning so I'm hoping this will help some other artist who may have trouble…
I think the normal maps on this piece are a bit 'busy' for my taste: http://davidzaballero.weebly.com/ppc.html I quite like the Graffiti tags though. I like the street scene, it's pretty colourful, but I would definitely omit this particular image from the Portfolio because it looks very bland - the top part of the image…
This really looks awesome! I really enjoy the floors and ceilings! One thing I noticed about your staircase is your brick work. I'm not an architect, so I could be wrong, but I think most often the bricks are always level, and not on a diagonal. Goodluck! Great work! Here are two examples of what I mean:
You should add some more color interaction to the brick. Right now it feels too monotone. There is room to push the red hues and add some greens to it if you want to go a little off concept. Looks like you got the style of the brick correct with the addition of some nice shapes to the mix, very nice.
Thanks! Some crits! :D And you are very correct about the bricks. Dirt/vertex paint on bricks are planned! Trims are wips, haven't figured what color I should use for them, so they won't become to contrasty and frame in the building to much. Or maybe they should be doing just that? (btw, loved your floating mansion scene!)
