Indoor/outdoor/hybrid/linear/open-world/multi-storey/fpp/3rdpp/top-down/isometric/sidescroller? What have you got in mind? A simple 2d plan sketch is a good place to start. Planning the assets to a real-world scale/grid is very important if you intend to build a modular level. -

That's not a (display) bug in Max, it's just how gamma works with a linear workflow (2,2). You have to reverse/de-gamma non sRGB spaces like your normal and displacement maps or you get seams! Just put a "composite map" before your texture >> Advanced Options: RGB= Gamma/Contrast -> 2.2 -

im still at the beginning, but it looks great so far. Edit: just beat it fairly short game, beat it in 6 hours few things i didnt like it was very linear, the story wasn't that great, and it was filled with a lot of jump scares (cheap scares) spoiler overall, it was worth what i paid for it (16$) -

You can set how many threads to use in the settings tab. Its roughly linear so if you have 8 available threads, setting it to 4 will take twice as long. I usually set mine to 7 (4 cores + hyperthreading = 8 threads). A setting of 0 uses all available threads. -

Seems faster to me, but that may just be because Blendmodes allows quick swapping of the modes. I like that it uses the Photoshop names, and has ALL of them. Plus it has the amount spinners. sciAnaComp doesn't have Color Burn, Linear Dodge, etc., only has two map slots, has a busier interface. -

v7 (creating energy peaks , planets now have texture , added space rocket , wood chaged for linear pattern . v8 ( increasing some peaks , I decided to delete the beam of the middle so the text is clearly more visible , added a color filter to give more armony and I made a signature in form of star for the grip ) -

if you gamma correct your rgb values and do proper linear math in your shader you wont have the problem of specular highlights giving strange fringe colors. - the 'blue trick' should never be necessary. - the gdc 2010 presentation "Uncharted 2: Hdr Lighting" by John Hable gives good examples on this topic. -

As ZACD said, Polycount is more focused on game art then Raytraced realistic rendering. A Gamma seting of 2.2 is for when you are doing physically based offline rendering(Vray/Mentalray/etc) using a linear workflow, but a lot of people disable it for general work when not rendering. Strange though, as having it on should make things brighter, not darker. :) You painted this texture yourself? Did you create it…
